Now… lets get going!

“You begin your journey at the place where wellesley runners gather, under the stars, the aldershot observatory.

a base for sky-gazing in the past, and run-chasing in the present.

From here, climb the hill where we remember those who gave their all.

The road is named after aldershots first medical facility used by the Army from 1854 to 1879, and the 2nd Division memorial stands in stone at the top.

Where do you go next?”

More About…

The observatory is a listed building, originally located in the centre of Aldershot Garrison and comes under the proud guardianship of Farnham Astronomical Society.

It is home to an original 8-inch cell refractor telescope mounted on an equatorial pillar with counterweight clockwork drive, built in 1891 by Dublin’s famous Sir Howard Grubb, gifted to the Army in 1906 by aeronautics pioneer Patrick Young Alexander.
